Maureen Neighbors is a graduate of Auburn University and has been with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) since 2002. She currently serves as the Community Services Unit Chief. Maureen started working in federal grant programs in 1984. Maureen has worked for Sioux City, Iowa, and the Memphis Bureau of Housing and Community Development. Maureen later started a grant consulting firm. During her years as a consultant, she was responsible for obtaining and administering millions of dollars in federal grant funds for her clients throughout Alabama and North Carolina. When Maureen started with ADECA she was a program supervisor in the Community Development Block Grant program. As Unit Chief for the Community Services Unit, she is responsible for the Emergency Solutions Grant program, the Housing for Persons with AIDS program, the Enterprise Zone program, the Targeted Employment Area program, Delta Regional Authority investments, the Healthy Food Financing Act program, the Recreational Trails Program, the Land and Water Conservation Fund program, and the Community Services Block Grant program.
