CLARKSDALE, MS – The Delta Regional Authority (DRA) announced today Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has been elected the 2022 DRA States’ Co-Chair.  DRA’s Board of Governors annually elect a States’ Co-Chair to work directly with the Federal Co-Chair on economic development and growth in the DRA region.

“I look forward to continuing my work with the DRA to help create jobs, build communities and improve the lives of those that reside within the Delta region,” said Governor Ivey.

Governor Ivey became the 54th Governor of Alabama in 2017.  During her time as governor, Alabama has seen its lowest jobless rate and record-high employment, with over 2 million Alabamians employed.  She is committed to offering economic development opportunities to both rural Alabama and the metro regions, and her focus has attracted over $25 billion in capital investment and 50,000 new jobs.

“Governor Ivey is a strong advocate for the Delta Regional Authority,” said DRA Alternate Federal Co-Chairwoman Leslie Durham.  “As Alabama governor, she has accelerated economic growth through job creation and by securing capital investments to expand project capacity and establish long-term growth within the state.  I look forward to her leadership as DRA States’ Co-Chair as we work together to move the Delta and Alabama Black Belt regions forward.”

Governor Ivey previously served as DRA States’ Co-Chair in 2017.
