U.S. Department of Defense to hold Innovative Readiness Training from July 9-17th in Lake Village, AR; Greenville, MS; and Lake Providence, LA.
LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER DELTA REGION – The Delta Regional Authority (DRA), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the U.S. Military’s reserve forces, will host the tri-state Delta Wellness Mission 2021 in Lake Village, AR; Greenville, MS; and Lake Providence, LA from July 9-17, 2021 to bring medical, dental, and optical care to Delta residents in need of quality healthcare at no cost to the patients.
“A community’s economic competitiveness is strengthened by the health and well-being of its workforce,” said DRA Spokeswoman Shawna Blair. “Partnering with DoD to bring IRT programs to Delta communities is yet another way that DRA works to help create jobs, build communities, and improve the lives of Delta residents. We thank our military and community partners for investing countless hours of planning, implementing, and carrying out the Delta Wellness Mission 2021 so our neighbors who need it most receive healthcare services at no cost to them.”
The Delta Wellness Mission 2021 is a Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program, a DoD military training opportunity that delivers joint training opportunities to increase deployment readiness while simultaneously providing key healthcare services with lasting benefits for Delta communities. By utilizing their extensive resources, the military is able to meet some of the region’s most urgent healthcare needs. Among the services provided during IRT missions are basic medical and wellness exams, vision exams and single lens glasses, and dental exams and extractions.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for our communities and military populations to come together, especially in a time of such hardship, to work and provide healthcare, well-being, and facilitate military deployment readiness training,” said Lt. Col. Michelle Underwood, NMANG.
Military personnel will offer vision, dental, and basic medical services to the public at no cost to patients. There are no income or residency requirements to receive treatment, and providers will treat patients ages three and older. Patients will be treated on a first-come, first-served basis.
