With a background in business development and state government, Commissioner Keene is no stranger to improving Kentucky communities. Equipped with an entrepreneurial spirit, he started a business at 20 before becoming a top advisor at regional economic development group Southbank Partners. While there, Commissioner Keene and colleagues collaborated with local officials in Northern Kentucky’s seven river cities to foster collaborative development, eventually bringing millions of dollars in investments and opportunity to the area.
Commissioner Keene also represented the 67th district in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2005 to 2019. During his tenure, he served on the House Licensing & Occupations Committee, was the caucus chairman in House Leadership and passed over 100 pieces of legislation.
Commissioner Keene will use his strategic planning experience to help local governments find creative solutions for community problems through strategy, collaboration and funding opportunities with the goal of improving access and opportunity for every Kentucky family.
