Delta Regional Authority Announces New Senior Advisor

Clarksdale, MS – The Delta Regional Authority (DRA) is pleased to welcome Laura Veazey as its new Senior Advisor, effective May 6, 2024. A resident of Louisiana, Veazey brings 20 years of combined experience in consulting, government relations and external affairs to DRA, while having served in various roles in the public and private sectors.

Prior to joining DRA, Veazey served as the Assistant Sheriff for External Affairs for the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. There, she developed and implemented strategic partnerships with community organizations, businesses and government agencies to enhance the office’s public image and to expand its outreach efforts. Additionally, Laura lends her expertise in consulting as the Owner of Focus Strategies of Louisiana and as the Crisis Communications and Government Relations Consultant for Deveney Communications.

“We are pleased to have Laura as a new addition to the DRA team,” said Dr. Corey Wiggins, DRA Federal Co-Chairman. “With her impressive background in government relations and external affairs, Laura was a perfect fit for this role. I expect great things from her, as she helps us cultivate our strong partnerships with stakeholders inside and outside the DRA.”

As Senior Advisor, Veazey will work directly with the Federal Co-Chair to provide strategic direction and leadership on regionwide initiatives and intergovernmental affairs that support the DRA mission. She will also establish and maintain strong relationships with various levels of government entities, coordinate intergovernmental affairs, and provide strategic guidance on DRA’s region-wide initiatives.

“I am honored to join the Delta Regional Authority and to help drive meaningful change in parts of the country that have historically been overlooked,” said Veazey. “Being a native and lifelong resident of this region, I understand both its challenges and its vast, untapped potential. I’m eager to support Dr. Wiggins and the investments the DRA is making in our communities to improve quality of life and increase economic opportunities, ensuring no community is left behind.”
